Description

Revit Family Editor is an advanced course that you can choose to read as Step 3, after you have read Revit AEC Step 1. The course can also be taken independently, provided that you already have equivalent knowledge.
During this course you will learn to create your own building components such as doors, windows, furniture, construction and installation elements that you can then use freely in your daily project work in Revit. The course aims to teach you the methodology for how to work and create your own families with Revit Family Editor.

Course description

Target audience

The course is aimed at those who want to learn how to build their own, tailor-made component library. Maybe you want to use the objects in your own projects, or you want to learn how to create BIM objects that you can deliver to projects you are involved in. The course is suitable for you who work with construction elements, other building and installation components or interior design.

Objective with Revit Family Editor advanced course

After completing the course, you will have sufficient knowledge to get started and be able to independently create your own component families with Revit Family Editor. You can keep and use components that are built during the course.

The goal after completing the course is to be able to:

  • Understand the user interface of Revit – Family Editor.
  • Manage Family Templates and understand differences between different types of 2D and 3D families.
  • Understand and create geometry using basic geometric functions.
  • Manage reference plan and control geometries using different conditions.
  • Understand Shared Families, Shared Parameters and be able to control parameters with logical and mathematical formulas.
  • Import and reuse CAD files, create Nested families, In-Place families and Adaptive families.

Previous knowledge

Step 1 – Revit AEC beginners course or equivalent knowledge. Basic knowledge in drawing technology is a requirement, which means that you must know what a drawing is and what it should look like.

We use an English course material that contains both theory and practical exercises in disciplines A, K, V and E.
